Reckon you have to go a long way to beat the Shimano SPD pedal. Went Clipless about 15 years ago and had to replace them within 2 years- 2 years later the same but these were SPD compatible. So 11 years went Simano and still got them. Last year I felt that they were getting a bit tired as I had the tension screw in as tight as posiible and still kept pulling my feet out of the pedals. Bought new shoes instead and fitted new cleats and found out it was not the pedals at fault. first attempt to stop and luckily I found a post to grab hold of. The pedals were still good but 11 year old cleats wear a lot.
