Actually a good question. There is an extender. Leave the valve in the open position, screw on an extension. When you clamp the pump on, the pressure from the pump activates the valve and the air goes right in. Just got to make sure the extender is really tight on the valve.
actually that depends on the tire(tubulars)/tube(clinchers) not the wheel... Vittoria has a 110mm valve for 808s and such... don't always have to use extenders.
