VO Alloy Chainguards for my Hercules. Looking at it, it looks like it is made to sandwich between the bottom bracket cup and the bottom bracket shell. Problem is, the drive side cup doesn't have a shoulder on it and it sits just slightly recessed in the shell.

Is this a vintage Hercules made in England? Do you know what make of bottom bracket you have installed?
If perchance it is normal British threading (iso) and it happened to be a Phil Wood bottom bracket, they do make an E-type derailleur "cups". This will also allow for the VO chain guard to be mounted. Read the last line on this page:

Otherwise, without using an alternate bottom bracket, the VO may not be a "bolt on" accessory for your Hercules.
