REI (I know, I know) has taken a CAAD 10 frame and built it up with 105 components and Easton wheels and its $1,100. Seems too good to be true but it was a replacement frame someone didn't want. Just don't know if I can do a 56.
I'm 5'9" with a 31.5" inseam. I ride a 56. I like being in a little aggressive position. 54 was too tight for me. 58 too big. 56 was jusssst right.
I think 56 is the lowest you can go and you can always experiment with stem lengths to accommodate your particular dimensions. Plus, not all 58's are the same. It really is a matter of you getting fitted at an LBS (I don't know if REI has trained sales personnel for that).
