when I did it in 2007 I remember talking to a guy who was moaning about having been passed by a fixie going up Independence Pass (that was me) and then later on by a guy on a unicycle! The unicycle apparently rode up Independence Pass and then got a ride down--I never saw him, but from what I heard he did part of the route on the unicycle. It was one of those with a big wheel.
