Shimano 1050 or 1056 for a two-ring biopace front end on a 1986 Cannondale road bike?

I bought a 1986 Cannondale 12-speed. The threaded holes for the front derailleur were stripped so I found an SM-AD11 adapter to clamp it to the tube. The adapter came with an FD-1056 derailleur which seems in better shape than the FD-1050 that I started with. The actions of the two derailleurs are very different. The 1050 moves out and FORWARD, while the 1056 moves straight out like most derailleurs. So my question is, is there a reason why I should stick with the 1050 that came with the bike, or should I use the 1056 which seems a bit better quality?

Thank you very much for your thoughts.
