I'm pretty sure the stem was made for MTBs. I bought it in 07, many years after Cannondale stopped making road bikes with headshocks but continued to make but continued to make MTBs. Having looked into this same issue in 07, the only option the C'dale dealer gave me was this adjustable stem. Your call.
