Since you won't be climbing any hills or racing, why not invest in a nice single speed?

That said, if a single speed would be better suited to your terrain, a three-speed would be slightly excessive. An eight-speed would be absolute overkill!

PS.

If you do have slight inclines to traverse, then allow me to recommend the three speed.
