1 1/4" PVC pipe worked perfectly on a Cane Creek Model 40 EC. Take the Race with you when you shop for the pipe. You'll see whether it fits. The force is on the inside of the race so while a larger diameter may fit down in the race better, there isn't any drag on the outside. Make sure any paint is removed where the race fits.
