All things considered it sounds like your doing okay so far. Keep doing what the doc says and you should be good to go soon
I've never been to Santos, and never actually ridden trails that are marked like those. But having read about your husbands mishaps there and seen some of the videos maybe i'll just stick to the logging trails and management areas LOL. But having said that... I really did like the Paisley Woods trail, well right up until I got cramps in both quads.. But seriously it was mostly single track not real technical (a couple places were though). And it is shaped like a figure 8 so that you don't have to ride the whole trail in one shot.
