Lotto Millionaire Doesn't Own Car

Here's a good story about a guy living in the burbs having millions in the bank and won't own a car. I know quite of few guys making over 100K and living in the city who don't own cars either. Meanwhile, you hear of folks all the time making 20K or less having to own a car because it's necessary. Go figure.

(1010 WINS) (WATERTOWN, N.Y.) The northern New York man who hit the second largest New York Lotto jackpot ever won by an individual doesn't own a car and apparently isn't in a hurry to get one.

Garry McGivney of Watertown can afford plenty of vehicles now that he's $56 million richer after the six numbers he has been playing for 15 years matched those drawn in last Saturday night's Lotto drawing.

The 66-year-old retired state worker says he prefers to walk. McGivney says he may buy a car with his winnings, but is more likely to rent one when he needs to. He celebrated last night by going out for ice cream with a friend.

McGivney chose the lump-sum payment option, meaning he'll get about $28 million before taxes.

Lottery officials have scheduled a news conference this afternoon at a Syracuse restaurant to formally introduce New York's latest millionaire.

He won't have to walk there. The lottery office is sending a limo to pick him up.
