My left leg tightens up much more than my right, especially on the TT bike. A massage therapist I've seen a couple of times (who has provided the best recovery benefits of any I've tried) says it emanates from my foot. Given that foot has been a source of torment for decades, I'm inclined to believe her, and suspect you have the issue nailed.
