Which is why my standard joke is get a big dog, teach him how to ride and leave him chaind to your tandem.

Baring that kind of solution the one thign many forget is any locking system is only as good as the weakest link. For those who are trying hard that is often whatever the bike is locked to.

Years ago I saw several bikes at UCSB with high end locks that just were locking the frame to the fense. NOT the posts but to the cyclone fense. A decent pair of wirecutters and it was 2 second to cut and ride off.
