My most disgusting ride was today. I am visiting Iowa and took my hybrid on a limestone trail that goes around the small town I visit. I rode past dried and shriveled corn fields and weedy ditches through clouds of grasshoppers. They pinged as they went through my spokes. Grasshoppers landed on my bare legs, arms, hands and face. Some felt like the little fish mouths on your legs that you sometimes feel when you swim. One even landed on my lips.
I am going to have bad dreams tonight.
