I have an 97 RockHopper (20.5”) purchased new with used fresh rebuilt fork upgrade to 2003 Marzzochi SL (rigid fork originally). I am thinking of converting to disk from V Brake. I would prefer to go low budget as I am not a hardcore off roader. I used the bike for commuting for a while but have purchased an 84 Trek 610 for that service.
The RH can now be configured for off road. What should I get? Thinking is as follows
- Used AVID BB7 W/160mm disk
- Use existing levers
- Buy new front hub – 6 bolt Shimano XT or Deore?
- Should get a rim too - ? (Current is Ritchey Rock SCX, 32-hole)
