I use an 800, and an e-werk and dyno-hub to keep it charged on longer rides. The ewerk allows use of the 800 while it's charging, and it still records the track (longest ride 600K). I only use the e-werk on 300k or longer, and I have never had a problem with the 800 not recording the track on any ride.
