Running a kids bike club is more fun than almost anything (been doing it for 7 years). They learn faster than you can think of new tests; they gain confidence; they get fitter; and they have fun.
I don't know if USCF has any standard skills scheme, but if you log on to
www.bsca.org.uk (BSCA is British Schools Cycling Association) you can look at their Trix Awards idea, while British Cycling (USCF equivalent) has the Go-Ride programme.
These schemes are particularly useful for younger riders (primary and early secondary school age) as they provide a visible proof of their improvement.
