IIRC Continental and Schwalbe makes some of the upper-end road tires in Germany, but most of it is from Thailand.
I understand the desire for someone to "buy locally" (no matter where their "locality" is) but when it comes to bicycles, it's darn difficult to put together a complete bike that doesn't have at least some parts from the Pacific rim.
