The real reason for posting though is that I wanted to extend my appreciation to bikingshearer who personally marshaled my backpack to the summit (along with a few others...) and welcomed me to the top with a resounding "Beeeaaaakeerrr!". Thank you sir, much appreciated. Nice to also meet caloso in person at long last.
My pleasure, sir. Being loud is what I do.

You looked good at the top, like you had ridden hard but stayed within yourself. I saw more than one person come in behind you who all but barfed up a lung at the top, including a couple who got three feet past the line, stopped and could not move for a minute or two. Doing better in the event than in the dry run qualifies as a good ride. Well done.
