Yeah, I almost bought into it until he mentioned that he works in the mining industry. Then, after we talked about the bike in one email, he said he would have his secretary send me a check.
It sounds like there is a problem with this kind of scam related to furniture ads on Craigslist. Even if you use PayPal, the scammer can claim he never received the goods and petition PayPal for a refund. That is why the scammer tries to coax the seller into making the moving or pickup/delivery service. This scammer even had the name of a well-known bike delivery service I know about based in New England, so it was polished. Plus, he knew about the equipment on my bike.
I was involved in a dispute over a damaged guitar I sold one time and PayPal made my life miserable! That was a legit sale, too!
