I would concur: I didn't have to do any special prep on my Nashbar aluminum touring frame.

draig: install of the headset shouldn't cost $80! The last time I had a headset installed, I let the local Performance Bikes shop do it. They pressed the headset cups into place, installed the crown race, cut the fork to length and installed a star nut. All for around $20-25. Dropped the bike off in the morning and had it back by the end of the day...
