Ok, so I have a 16-17 mile or 32-34 mile rt commute to class and work. I work on campus, I have with me an iPad and keyboard that I carry everyday, along with bike tools like inflator, charge cable for lights and ipad, extra tube, tire levers multi tool the normal gear.
Things I want need out of the item:
- water/weather proof
- can be worn on the back to a building for class
- quick on and off if a pannier as having to take into class and reattach after class
- ability to store a light jacket or my shower pass rain jacket in the summer
I'm thinking about getting this for myself. Personally, I think that if you are going to be biking that far you are going to want the weight off your back. I would go with panniers.
