well,.. if your frame has carbon fiber chain stays, DO NOT GET A KICK STAND. /way/ too easy to crush carbon, and once its cracked, its greatly weakened.
if your frame has aluminum chain stays, and it doesn't have the bolt plate for a kickstand, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN THE CLAMP.
my globe vienna CAME with a kick stand from the factory, and the bolt plate is welded to the frame.
