Pretty simple, really:

(1) The track is really a training environment for me and I simply won't be as demanding of the power data from my track time as I would be if I was really focused on track results.
(2) I want some kind of PM on the track bike, if nothing more than to give me a decent idea of what I am doing out there. Also, my OCD side rears its ugly head and finds it unacceptable to have PM for my road and TT bikes but not for the track.
(3) I already consider myself a but ridiculous for having 3 SRMs (2 road bikes, TT bike) and buying a 4th at the even more ridiculous price of the SRM track unit just seemed, well... ridonkulous.
(4) The Stages PM is cheap and unless it's a total POS, it should serve my limited purposes fairly well.
