I've got a 2010 Trek 7.5 that I bought used in mint condition for $550. It is just a pure pleasure to ride. I've got other hybrids and a nice road bike, but this is my favorite . Check Craigslist and I'm sure you can find a 2 or 3 year old quality hybrid in your price range ( 40 to 50% off original price is not uncommon).
