That is very intriguing! I can imagine someone with an old broken derailleur and some pretty good metal working skills deciding to make their own parts for it. Can't explain the plating though.

Cherish it if it works well. The True Believers will see it as some sort of bastardization but to me that's worth more than the original. I love hand-made stuff.
