New to cycling, but love music. Are there stereos designed for bikes?

Hello everyone.

I just bought my first bike (Cannondale Quick 6) earlier this week. I am looking to bike for health reasons and plan to get out as much as possible this summer. In doing so, I am sure there will be a lot of times that I have to go out alone, and would like to have a way to listen to music as I bike around.

I have a couple of ipods, and thought that I would just slap in some ear buds and go, but I quickly realized that I do not like the idea of not being able to hear my surroundings as well. Thus, I come to my question.

Are there stereos designed for bikes? I don't care if they are units that you plug your ipod into, or use a USB stick or whatever, I just need it to go reasonably loud (without distortion) and not require the use of headphones.

Is there anything like that out there?

Any ideas, tips, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
