Frank- It depends on the accessibility. But i tried to divide the circumference into 90* sections. The side portions of the joint are the hardest for me. I agree with up hill running. In fact on the sides I'll lay more brass on the mitered tube and then move it down to cover the full length tube. For the nicer practice joints i went a little bit less the 90*, working the sides as I said and flowing together the crotch areas as well in a separate step.
