Nope. Nothing is overkill if it gives you peace-of-mind. Besides, after you get the first scratch or ding on the bike, you won't care that much about looks anymore anyways.
I'm already low-key as far as that goes. It's a bike. It's gonna get scratched. I'll leave the cable. It does not impede the fold or the saddle height.
