Thanks for the lead. I'll keep that in mind if I ever lose that nut. I also found suitable replacements at McMaster-Carr.
The nut is ment to be used with a quickrelease. If you try to use it with an allen bolt or similar it may be difficult tightening it. If you use it witha a quickrelease and the torque is not enough (assuming you use the quickrelease the right way) then you may not have the right size clamp (or seatpost).
