I didn't see anyone post anything remotely smug. They're simply sharing their Good advice. They're trying to help with proper technique and explain things to the OP and you're telling him to just get new pedals so that the bike can't go anywhere(and as I pointed out, telling someone who can't jump and rides flats that it would be a good idea to attach themselves to the bike and go hit some jumps...). Try to get past defending yourself for a second and realize that they're very knowledgeable and experienced riders. Then actually think about what they're saying rather than trying to think of why you're right.
