This is clearly another opportunity to hate on external cam skewers.
They can't grab as tight as an internal cam QR, and it usually takes more effort too.
If you want a nice QR, Shimano does a quite nice ally internal job, on most of its nicer hubs of recent years; shouldn't be too hard to find at a nice price...
Although I prefer allen head skewers myself.
