All I have to add is, this headset has worked fine since I installed it. Regarding the height, I don't know what was originally on my bike, I just had the frame and fork, and the CX fit. Regarding installation, I don't know if the heat/cool process is really necessary, but doing it that way, everything went together quite easily without a lot of stress on the parts. (By heat, I just mean a towel with hot water, not a torch or anything like that). Good luck with your project!
