Just did some research. It appears that Nishiki is only sold at Dick's Sporting Goods (where I bought it) I feel like this is their house (Dick's) brand and maybe I should have gone with something else. The bike looks fab and rides well... so maybe I'm just getting bent up over brand names. It was only $400 and I'm a poor college student just really getting into biking, perhaps I'll just tell myself this was a good starter.

Edit: I've had it for a month with no probs other than the breaks needing to be readjusted and the rack needing to be tightened a bit. Hmmm not gonna let this bother me too much - since I do love the bike and it came with the fenders/rack.
