Yes, but heads-up displays have been included as safety features in a few cars for probably 10 years. I don't see how having the data in front of your face instead of having to take your eyes off the road can be detrimental, given that people WILL screw with their toys either way.
Let's see, HUDs in jets and cars display information about the condition of the jet or car... slightly distracting, but probably no more so than gazing at the dashboard gauges. On the other hand google glass... the user can be looking at anything... including streaming porn. I suspect streaming porn is a bit more distracting than a number telling you your current speed.
