I have not done this, but live in an area of Black Hawk history and think it would make an interesting tour. I live about 15 miles from where the Battle of the Pecatonica took place, about 15 miles from Fort Brigham at Blue Mounds and about 40 miles from the Battle of Wisconsin Heights. I have ridden several areas in Richland, Crawford and Vernon counties with Black Hawk history including the climax at Battle Bluff near Victory, WI. I know these areas of WI very well and there is some great riding to be found-quiet back roads with little traffic. I do not know much about the cycling conditions in Illinois along the Black Hawk Trail. I think it is a great idea for a tour.
