I don't think that the minimalist Ti skewers can tolerate being cranked down as tight as much heavier steel ones - how could they be, its called physics. I've been riding a set of the J&L Ti skewers off of Ebay and they work fine on my bike - no creaking and the wheels are tight in the vertical drop outs, but I am careful not to tighten them beyond what feels right to me. From the OP's pictures, his skewers definitely look "mashed". I'm surprised the threads didn't fail first.
