Not every campus is a theft magnet but some clearly are. I used my racing bike to commute to college but then the frame paint was all beat up on it. If you don't want to race, I'd pass on this bike. There are better choices for a road bike/commuter. I'd get something that can take a fatter tire and doesn't look quite so stealable.
