Not exactly new to power but this is power related.

I've been doing alternating workouts between 2x25 and 3x25 at various power levels. Generally the 3x sets are maybe 95-97% of FTP and the 2x's are maybe FTP + a few (2-4%) on a good day.

I'm questioning the value of the FTP+2-4% workouts. I guess the question is whether I would see bigger FTP increases by doing more of the volume at slightly lower power levels?

practically speaking if my FTP is 300, I could do a LOT of time at 285 (110+ minutes), but once I try to go much above 300 watts, I'm really limited to 50 minutes total workout time and I'm pretty fried. My goal right now is to built up FTP as much as possible in the next 30 days. I'm probably asking the obvious here.. Should I scale back on the more intense intervals and go lower and longer? I'm generally looking at 2 real good ride days a week, so I have to pick carefully.
