I wouldn't call Fuji a sketchy builder but nice to support the LBS as well. the trek 1.5 is, imho, trek's best 'price point' bike. but as kv says, don't discount the fuji, they make some fine bikes, so go try them out and see which one you like. both are going to be great if they fit you, and that's what matters most.
