When I switched from the new Tiagra to whatever the current 105 is, the biggest difference I noticed was front shifting. The back felt the same as before. But one thing I have noticed is for some reason, 105 is a PITA to tune. I don't have a repair stand, but could easily adjust my rear derailleur on my Tiagra without any troubles. Now with the 105, whenever I tough the barrel adjuster while cleaning, it goes out of whack and shifts horribly. And for some reason is impossible (at least for me) to repair without a repair stand. I've had to take it in twice just to get it tuned after only a month. Whenever I clean my bike now, I avoid even looking at it.
