I started to do fund-raising rides, namely, the California AIDS ride in 2000, ALC1. That was fun and great camaderie for a good cause. Then was invited to France to ride and watch the tour. I got serious as the other people in the 5 man camper were stronger riders than myself. Hired a bike coach and started serious working out. That has led to Double Centuries, 200k randonneuring, racing at the Senior Games in St George, Utah and the completion of 10 of the California Double Centuries. See "caltriplecrown.com" for information on the rides. My goal is to do all 17 of them by the end of next year. Did 5 last year, will do 6 this year and plan to do 6 next year. Would love to hear from others who have gotten into doubles. Am considering doing the 200, 300, 400, 600k preparation for Paris-Brest-Paris in 2007. I think my mind forgets the feeling at mile 160 of a double century.
