Use a water based paint for styrofoam or around styrofoam,it won't melt the foam.
Latex or water based enamel paint will work fine.
Now you just need to get it to stick.....
I'm not sure what they are made out of,just a light sanding might work or you may need a water based primer of some sort,not sure.
