I've never been there, but have heard good things about a shop in Lexington.
AFAIK the only way to get a good bent for low dollars is luck, time and skill in the used market. Unless your finances are tight, you might consider other cost comparisons. Bents are cheaper than cars both to buy and run. Even an expensive bent costs less than a year's country club membership. You can also get a fine new recumbent for less than a high end road bike.
