Oh man, that's starting to sound like work! Since the bike is a fixed-gear, I haven't had much need for a rear brake, and I think the angle of the photo is what makes the brake lever look weird. It's perfectly positioned for the drops, where I spend 95% of my time on this bike.
You could trim the fender risers too..
