Congrats for getting out there. Every time yuo work out, you're doing better than sitting on the couch.
In the past two years, I've dropped from over 300 to 168. My recommendation would be to focus on daily rides or walks that you can gradually increase in duration and intensity. The occasional hour long exercise session is great, but daily 10-20 minute sessions will do more to improve your overall fitness in the long run.
