Today, for a birthday treat, I rode across the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge and down the Riverfront Trail to the St. Louis Archgrounds. It wasn't an auspicious start, when my lower back went "sproing" as I lifted my bicycle onto the bike rack, giving me the gift of extreme lower back twinges for the rest of the day.


Because of my back, I didn't get started as early as I wished, so I had to forgo the little side trip across the McKinley Bridge. I somehow managed to get the bike off the rack at the parking lot without need for medical assistance. Medical assistance would have been available though, since there was an emergency vehicle from the fire department there. I don't know what the problem was, but there was a bus and a crowd of Mennonites. I should'a taken a picture of that...
