Hmm, I have even carried an
Ultrafire WF-900L - which is almost three times heavier than the 501B - on the handlebar in the very same mount. No issues at all.
The difference being the U-shape facing up on the handlebar, but down on the saddle mount. Working with or against gravity - I usually try to go with it.
