Dunno about commercial flights, I suspect it's a "puddle jumper" like plane. The flight connects through LAX and with his layover I think he said it's like 11 hours of transit time. I've done Sacramento to San Diego in sub 10 (with stops) while driving through the night, I'm sure it's faster to drive to Santa Rosa from San Diego at that point.
I think the flight is on a Q400... so 80 seat turboprop.
