For me, it always turns out to be faster to just "undo" all the route back to the part I want to edit, then redraw from there.

When I do anything more complicated than just shifting a small section to a nearby road, I end up with a bunch of small loops or other problems, and I have to zoom way in and carefully drag dozens of waypoints back into line.
